Terms
Last updated October 5, 2026
These are the terms for buying from Cosmic Crumb, a Washington cottage food business baking from a home kitchen. By making an account or placing an order, you agree to them. We've kept them as short and plain as we can.
Your account
You need an account to buy, subscribe or redeem a gift. Please use an email address you check, since that's where your order details, reminders and receipts go, and keep your sign-in details to yourself.
The monthly box
Each month's box has six cookies: four core flavors you pick (doubles are fine) and two seasonal mystery flavors we choose. A box is one flat price whatever you pick. The box page shows the price, and if it changes, the new price applies from the next month that hasn't locked yet.
Each month usually runs like this: ordering opens on the 1st, boxes lock on the 8th, we bake on the 15th, and boxes are handed over from the 22nd. Your subscription page always shows your next box's exact lock date.
We make a limited number of boxes each month. If a month is full when you subscribe, your first box is the next month with room. If no month has room yet, we put you on our waiting list, email you, and we'll start your subscription when a month has room. Nothing is charged until then.
Lock day and charging
When you subscribe, you save a card on Stripe's secure page, and nothing is charged. Each month, your box is charged to that card on lock day, and we email you to confirm it. Two days before lock day, we email you a reminder with your picks.
If a charge doesn't go through, we email you a link to update your card, and hold your box until bake day. If it's still unpaid on bake day, that month's box is canceled, and your subscription carries on for the next month.
Changing, skipping, pausing and canceling
Until lock day, you can change your picks and your pickup or delivery choice, skip a month, pause for one, two or three months (or until you come back), or cancel, all from your subscription page. Once a month has locked and its box is paid, it will be baked for you. If you cancel after lock day, a box already paid for is still made, and nothing further is charged. You can restart any time.
If we close a month, for example for a vacation, nobody is charged for it, and we email you.
Mystery seasonals
The two seasonal flavors stay a secret until subscribers have their boxes, so they can't be swapped. Before you order, the box page lists the allergens that month's box may contain. If one of them is a problem for you, skip that month.
Drops
Drops are small, limited batches, sold first come, first served until they're gone. You pay when you check out. While you're on the payment page, your cookies and your spot are held for about 30 minutes.
Pickup and delivery
You choose a pickup or delivery time when you order, and we email you a reminder the day before. If a pickup spot is a private home, we send you its address once you've paid for an order there.
We deliver ourselves, in person, only to Washington addresses, generally within 20 miles of the bakery. The delivery page checks your ZIP code. Delivery orders start at $25, and any delivery fee is shown before you pay. Washington's cottage food rules don't let us ship or use couriers, so we can't send cookies any other way.
Missed pickups and deliveries
Every order is baked fresh for its pickup or delivery time. If you can't make it, let us know as early as you can, and we'll try to find another time that week. Cookies that aren't picked up, or a delivery nobody is home for, can't be refunded, since they were baked for you.
Cancellations and refunds
You can cancel an order yourself while it's still unpaid. Once an order is paid, ask us before we bake it, and we'll cancel it and refund you. After that, the cookies have been baked for you, so we don't refund a change of mind. If something is wrong with your order, tell us, and we'll make it right, with a full or partial refund. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, and we email you when one is made.
Gifts
You can give 1, 3, 6 or 12 boxes, paid once at checkout. We email the recipient a link to redeem it, on the date you choose or straight away, and you get a printable gift card with the code. To redeem, the recipient makes an account, picks their cookies and chooses a pickup, or a delivery inside our area. Their boxes start with the first month that has room. Gifts don't expire.
Pickup costs the recipient nothing. If their delivery has a fee, they pay it for each box. Once a gift is redeemed, its boxes belong to the recipient, so it can't be canceled or refunded. When the last box is used, the gift ends, unless the recipient chooses to carry on with their own card.
Allergens and our home kitchen
Made in a home kitchen that has not been subject to standard inspection criteria.
Every cookie is labeled with its ingredients and allergens. Everything is made in the same home kitchen, so we can't promise that any cookie is free of an allergen. Please read the label, and ask us before you order if you have a question. More on our disclosures page.
We sell only while our Washington cottage food permit is current, so ordering can close for a while.
The fine print
If something goes wrong with an order, the most we're responsible for is what you paid for it, as far as the law allows. These terms are governed by Washington law.
Changes and questions
If we change these terms, we'll update them here and change the date at the top. A change doesn't affect an order that's already paid. For any question, reply to any email we've sent you. How we handle your information is on our privacy policy.
